…The Cat is out of the Bag!

1506428_10201230987472436_1708810104_nLadies and gentlemen, I work from home four days a week. To my close family and friends, this is not anything new. I have been working from home ever since my boyfriend and I moved in September.

You see, my boyfriend is in the early stages of his aviation career. Pilots are known to sort of ‘hop around or relocate in the early stages of their careers. So, this is completely normal. He is currently building his hours with a private jet company not too far from Tampa, 75 miles.

However, the move stirred up a little bit of ‘drama’ in our lives. We had to make many decisions together regarding the causes and effects of the aviation lifestyle. One of the most important factors to consider, my career situation (aside from family, of course!).

The dynamics of the company I work for, Upright Communications, is similar to many others in the online marketing and S.E.O industry in the regards to our time tracking, agenda setting, tasks and business development. What is very unique, is the flexibility and consideration. Flexibility such as the opportunity to work virtually anywhere.

Fluffy Clouds

My colleagues and I depend on Google Hangout, Skype and Join.Me as main platforms of communication. Upright Communications headquarters is located in Cincinnati, Ohio and we have an office in Tampa, Fla. as well as four other team members throughout the U.S. who work from their home. Our team is completely used to functioning even though we do not work face to face.

When the chances of James and I relocating was beginning to favor, I was nervous and worried about my position at the workplace. The communication was completely open between me and my supervisor as she was fully aware of situation. When I presented to her the problem and my proposed solution, she was not blindsided or shocked.

I vowed to be an even better worker and dedicate my time and energy to the company. Together, we established a routine. Every Monday, I’ll drive to Tampa, and Tuesday through Friday we check in with each other at 7:30 a.m. to go over the task list for the day (& of course, we communicate throughout the day, too!).

My Home Office

So there you have it! Since September, I have been working from home a chunk of the week. Something about me, I am a mega ‘home body.’ I am totally content with sitting at my desk and working away. I am located in a quite area with nature all around me. I really have no reason to leave my home unless it is to go to the gym or to go to the grocery store! Just the way I like it!

The first picture is of James and I just before an aviation adventure, the second is of clouds during another aviation adventure and the third is of my home office area!

I am one blessed newly college graduate to have such an awesome job in my field of study!

Reach for the stars!

Fake Social Media ‘Click Farms’ Part Of Big Business

Great article!

CBS Sacramento

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Celebrities, businesses and even the U.S. State Department have bought bogus Facebook likes, Twitter followers or YouTube viewers from offshore “click farms,” where workers tap, tap, tap the thumbs up button, view videos or retweet comments to inflate social media numbers.

Since Facebook launched almost 10 years ago, users have sought to expand their social networks for financial gain, winning friends, bragging rights and professional clout. And social media companies cite the levels of engagement to tout their value.

But an Associated Press examination has found a growing global marketplace for fake clicks, which tech companies struggle to police. Online records, industry studies and interviews show companies are capitalizing on the opportunity to make millions of dollars by duping social media.

For as little as a half cent each click, websites hawk everything from LinkedIn connections to make members appear more employable to Soundcloud plays…
